Who are we?

Aimee Fizor, LCPC
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Aimee received her Master’s of Arts (M.A.) in Clinical Psychology (Counseling Practice) from Chicago’s Roosevelt University. She completed her internship and continued working in Special Education in a school-based setting, providing therapy and support services to children and families from all walks of life.

In addition to working with children, adolescents, and their caregivers, Aimee has experience working with adults with mental disorders. She incorporates empathic listening, constructive feedback, and challenges thinking patterns to build a supportive, warm, and honest working relationship with her clients. She follows a person-centered, relationship-based approach and may sprinkle in some behavioral techniques to help blend the therapy session and home-life of the client.

Aimee is certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, is a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist, and is trained in trauma-informed care, which allows her to listen, observe, and help identify moments or events that impact clients’ daily functioning and monitor the effects that anxiety may cause in their life. She also has background experience in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, ADHD, emotional/behavioral disorders, and stress management.

Aimee believes seeking change through therapy is a collaborative process, where both client and therapist can talk openly, build trust, and use honesty and authenticity to communicate. A positive relationship practiced in the therapy office builds healthy, positive relationships in the rest of our daily lives.

Clients best-suited to work with Aimee are open-minded, ready for change, have a sense of humor, and wish to be heard. Aimee approaches human beings in a gentle, warm, and curious manner. She is excited to get to know her clients and create a safe, calm, and non-judgmental space for them to learn and grow.
