Amelia Powelson, Psy.D.
Licensed Psychologist
Amelia received her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Health Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. She provided therapy and assessment services to a diverse range of individuals at a non-profit organization in Illinois before transitioning to private practice in 2015.
Amelia is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), which allows her to skillfully work with individuals who have experienced emotional, physical, and/or sexual trauma, domestic violence, and childhood trauma or neglect. Gaining a better understanding of the biological, psychological, and social repercussions of trauma helps you get to a healthier, happier place mentally.
Prior to starting her own practice, Amelia worked at an integrated primary care clinic, where she provided a broad range of clinical assessment and treatment services to individuals experiencing co-occurring medical and psychological issues. This specialty allows her to comprehensively help you cope with the diagnosis of medical conditions and make lifestyle changes.
Whether you are coping with a transition, anxiety, depression, or other challenges, Amelia can work with you to increase positive healthy behaviors, reduce stress, improve your mood, and enhance communication skills. Amelia is passionate about helping you find opportunities to learn and grow from every experience, and her client-centered approach has helped her develop into a culturally sensitive, competent, and compassionate clinician. Recognizing that each individual is different, she modifies her approach to fit your needs.
